Car Wash

In January 2008 I took this video (Follow link below) of Johnny screaming in the car wash and Curtis super excited. Fast forward three years, and I've got Bubba (The same age as Johnny back then) a bit scared in the car wash, and Curtis JUST as excited! (If not more). This is one of the MANY things I love about Curtis and I'll miss as he gets older!

The New Cast...

Here is the new BLUE cast! He loves the color and all the attention....
but HATES that he can't play sports, draw, or eat well!
We first stopped to get this, to help us with bath times (what a GREAT idea by the doctor) to wrap his arm in this, and then the garbage bag.

Then we were back home and tried not to let it stop us too much.
Bubba waiting for the doctor this week!

Dreams

Last night Bubba woke up two times. The first time he ran into our room and said, "Mom and Dad, there is an earthquake outside!" The second time he said, "There is a tornado at the pond, and Johnny caught it!" Needless to say, I better turn the weather channel off, if I want to sleep much more this spring! The video above is him re-telling his dreams. (Not sure what I LOVE more...his high voice, or the boys in the background! )

What a Difference a Week Makes.

The video at the bottom was Johnny one week ago yesterday. (Not the BEST video taping job in the world...but you get the point and the excitement of a 5 year old running out of the tunnel!)Here he is this Saturday before his game. On Friday night his friend was dropping him off at home, and Johnny saw the neighbor kids all at our house. He was SO excited that he jumped out of the mini van as fast as he could and his feet were tangled in his friends backpack. He fell right on the pavement elbow first. That night he wasn't using his left arm at all, and I thought it might be b/c it had such bad road rash. I watched him all night, but thought maybe if he slept on it, he would forget about it and feel better in the morning.Well, morning came, and he was eating his cereal with his right hand and brushing his teeth with his right hand too! (He's a lefty). He told me he was fine, and wanted to go play in his basketball game. I asked him to swing a bat for me and he wouldn't do it. (Can you believe baseball started yesterday too!?) So, we loaded up the car and went to the doctor. The x-ray isn't a clear cut fracture, but it looks as if he's fractured his arm. We go in this week to a children's pediatric orthopedic to see what's next for Lefty.
When you are five and you get a cast/sling it is SO SO cool....
For approximately 6 hours, and then you become very angry!

Let's hope we get good news at the doctor. or it will be a VERY long spring for my active little boy!

Wish us luck!

One week ago, this was Lefty.

Valentine's Day

Johnny's teacher came to the car with worried look on her face yesterday says, "I have to apologize, I had something happen that I'm not sure ever has before. Johnny ate ALL the candy that he got for Valentines Day already! I didn't think about limiting it, as I didn't think anyone would eat ALL the candy in one sitting!" Johnny looked up at her and said, "NOT ALL the Valentine Candy-I didn't eat the Craisin's!" (THAT'S MY BOY!)

Then, last night I go into his backpack and he was SO excited about ALL the candy kids were giving him, he forgot to take out the candy to go with HIS Valentines to hand out to everyone! Makes me feel less guilty about the roll of Thin Mints I ate while he was at school yesterday! Thank Goodness those only come out once a year! (:

Curtis' Birthday

The week before Curtis' 7th Birthday I e-mailed Curtis' teacher and asked her what all the parents usually do for birthdays, since I was new to the school. She said to bring in his treat to lunch, have a special lunch with him, and they will celebrate the last 7 minutes of the lunch hour in the cafeteria. (Good thing I asked, as I was going to send it with him on the bus!) So, Johnny and I brought in Subway for the birthday boy, and had a nice lunch with Curtis. (Bubba was home with the neighbor lady, as he still had pneumonia! Thank GOODNESS for her!)
After I snapped the pic above of Curtis, I noticed kids giggling at us from the other side of the cafeteria. Lefty was making faces at all the older boys he knows from the ball park, and I had to capture it on film! He is SO excited to go to kindergarten next year and is SO ready by the looks of this pic!
Saturday came and the weather could NOT have been nicer! 65 and sunny! Who would have thought on Curtis' B-Day in January we would be doing an outside party! Only problem was the birthday boy was still wheezing and had to go on steroids to try to calm down his lungs! This made for a REALLY crabby and emotional Birthday Boy...and I felt bad for him! But, we trudged along, and decorated the deck....
Played games....
Ate cake...
Opened presents...
And hit the pinata!

When people ask how it went let me just say two things:

1. There was one point where Curtis was in the house crying because he was SO crabby and emotional from the medicine and got beat in musical chairs. We went to play football after that, and Johnny started crying b/c he dropped a pass, AND a kid from the party wandered into the woods and was eating the toilet paper roll! I just looked around and said to everyone- "OMG, HOW MUCH LONGER DO WE HAVE?"

2. From now on, Curtis will do a party with ONLY a friend or two at a Bob Cats game or something! The days of inviting all the boys in the class are OVER for this mom! (:

All in all, I think the boys had a good time...but this mom needed a spa day to recover! LOL!

Fun in the Sun!

This month, we'll have a few cold and rainy days, and then a few warm and sunny days. I'd compare winter here to fall/spring in the Midwest! Last weekend, when the temps were 70, we spent the whole weekend outside. First we had Curtis' Birthday party, and then we ended the party with friends having a cook-out! I have to say I REALLY love the weather in NC!
LOVE this pic!
Everyone was out playing football and I found Bubba up on the porch. Bubba has a radar....a chip radar! He just knew when our friends were putting out the goodies! I found him sitting by himself eating one of his FAVORITE things.
The kids all collecting wood to start the fire!
Getting it ready before dinner!
Ahhhh, nothing like a smore to end a GREAT weekend!
