So, I knew it was going to be bad. I was anticipating it and I
survived it. What did I
survive might you ask? Being home for 5 days with the kids all by myself! It wasn't pretty, but we made it work! Here's some stories for your entertainment!
Friday: We had our ducts cleaned out and I had to be out of the house for 8 hours! So, we went to the Zoo for the morning. Then hung at Meg and Kyle's house in the afternoon. By 4pm the kids were driving me NUTS! So, I called Megan and asked if they wanted to meet us out for fish. We went at 4:30pm b/c I know my kids are not exactly dinner party material, and I wanted to beat the crowd. We get to the
restaurant and Andrew is asleep in the car seat. I order our meal, because I wanted it ASAP. We didn't wait for Meg and Kyle to get there. Both kids have to go to the bathroom. It's in the basement and I take them down to go. My meal comes. Johnny spills his water and has a fit. Johnny has to go "Poop" he announces to the whole
restaurant. I take Johnny down. Come back up and eat a bite of my fish. Johnny spills his water AGAIN. Curtis now has to go to the bathroom. I told him to go by himself. Two minutes later, a BLOOD curdling scream comes out from the basement of the
restaurant. I get up and RUN down there. (Johnny spills his water AGAIN!) Curtis heard a squeaking noise and thought he saw a mouse. We go up, and I take another bite of my fish. Johnny spilled again and now is really throwing a fit. Curtis is going around the tables blowing out all the candles AND the baby starts to cry! I shovel down my fish...I don't think my kids ate. We leave a BIG tip, and high-tail it out of the
restaurant. While we are getting the kids in the car, the waiter runs out after us. Kyle forgot his credit card at the counter. I tell Megan and Kyle- "I hope this is not your LAST SUPPER!"
Saturday: Kids are ALREADY driving me crazy and it's only 8am. Wait, I'm still stressed out from dinner last night! After bath time, I told Curtis to comb his hair. Not sure if the words COMB and CUT rhyme...but now there is hair all over the bathroom floor and a REALLY ticked off mother!
Sunday: Decide to get the razor out and just cut their hair myself. Today was MUCH better. Maybe it's because they played outside all afternoon, and then went to the neighbors house for a little while.
Monday: Getting closer to when Erik gets home. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Johnny throws a fit, and tells me he is going to CHOP down all the trees in our back yard! I want to chop him down!
Tuesday: The big day is here! I only have six hours to
survive until Erik gets home. We get up and go to gymnastics class. Then we come home. I have one hour to make their lunches and do dishes from dinner last night. Then it's off to class for all of us and only 3 hours and counting until Erik gets home. I start scrubbing out the Mac and Cheese pan with dried out noodles in it. I can't get the last stubborn dried noodle to budge. So, I use my thumb nail to scrub it and
BAM.....SHOOTING pain! I can't believe it. The damn dried noodle is STUCK underneath my fingernail like a sliver. YOU CAN SEE IT! I can not believe this is happening to me! I call my friends laughing/verge of crying. ONLY me! We decide that I need to go to the ER. Seriously! So, I call another friend to take my kids for me to school. Then I take Andrew to the ER. I'm sure they just need to pull it out! WRONG! Two hours, 8 shots, and an irrigation later (AKA- Chinese Water Torture!) I walk out of the ER. The $0.89 box of Mac and Cheese has now cost me well over a thousand dollars! I'm still in pain....12 hours later. My finger is throbbing, and I can't sleep! I've never been happier to see Erik in my life!
Can't wait to see what tomorrow brings! Isn't motherhood great?
