We finally made it! After a week of very hard goodbyes, we are finally at our new home. I'm VERY thankful that the move has gone SO smooth as well! We had some kick butt movers who arrived 4 days early, and had everything set up and unpacked when I walked through the front door. I still need to put everything away...but there are offically NO boxes to unpack! They even had the beds all set up with bedding on for us! It was SO nice....I can't even explain it.
Is it OK to say that I'm in LOVE with my new house? Because I think I am! Everytime I go into a room, I'm in LOVE with it! I'm on total "GO" mode! I want to get this place unpacked and organized. My sisters are coming to help, so I can't wait for that! I'm thinking at this pace, we all may be doing chicken fights by Sunday at the pool.
Tonight the kids went to their first offical flag football game. I signed them up on-line a few weeks back. I wanted them to do something to meet friends. Since it's so hot down here, they don't have soccer or baseball in the summer. This was about all I could find, so I went with it. My boys are SO excited to play. They are coming in two weeks late, but the coach said it was OK, and I went with it. When, we pulled up to the field tonight, they were even more excited because it is a really nice turf field. (First clue that we are NOT in the midwest anymore kiddos!)
When we got there, my kids went running out onto the field, and Andy tried to follow. He cried on and off the entire hour and a half, because HE wanted to be out there. (Maybe because he was DYING of heat too!) I brought a football for him to play catch with, because I anticipated this. He threw it over the fence and onto the field every time I gave it to him. So, he quickly got it taken away. By the way, I looked super sweet running onto the field like a big, hot, sweaty mess! Seriously, it is record heat down here and it's only my first day! If I look skinnier to you when you see me next, it's because I've already sweat off 10lbs!
When the boys' coaches started to run plays, they told Johnny to run the "5 stack." (This is when I knew we were WAY out of our league!) I looked at Erik and said, "The only stack Johnny knows how to do, is with Oreo cookies or legos!" Then the coach would come over to set Johnny up for a play and Johnny would try to talk his hear off. For example, "Hey coach, if I bring my towel next time, can you squirt me with the hose?" Johnny's first impression was TOP NOTCH!!
Curtis on the other hand, did super sweet. NOT! Whenever he got a hand-off, he would wind up, crow-hop and throw the ball down the field. They had to explain to him that not everyone could be the quarterback. After that, whenever a teammate would run with the ball, Curtis would get so excited, he would just stand there and flap his arms! No running, playing, flag pulling...just stand and flap! My kids were pretty much dominating the game. By the end of the game, they were so tired and hot, the team had huddles that included everyone but my boys! It was only 93 degrees and humid at 7pm...WELCOME to the SOUTH Ya'LL!
Even though this league is much more competitive than I anticipated, the kids had fun, and that's all that matters. Hopefully each week they will feel more comfortable, and I'm sure I'll get some good video by the end of the season. I'm specifically looking for something that may be high school graduation material!
I better get to bed...WAY past my bedtime! Thought I'd fill you all in on day #1! So far we really like it. I can't wait to be done unpacking, so I can start meeting people and get into a daily routine with the kids. I'm sure there will be LOTS of blogging once Megan and Ann Marie get down here. T-minus two days and counting! I can't wait!
