April Fun!

This week we had a wonderful week temperature wise and
Bubba is defiantly the ruler of the hose this year!
Of course, with kids, it was a CRAZY week. On Wednesday we had to go to Curtis' school for a program. It was REALLY long...think 1.5 hours that we had to sit there. I was nervous about how Bubba would do. I was SO proud of him, and kind of feeling proud of my mothering skills when he sat like this with Johnny and his friend, just reading books the WHOLE time! He was telling the older kids to be quiet and listen. I called up Erik on the way home and told him that Bubba was getting so old, and was SO well behaved at school! Iwas riding a natural high as a mother! That was, until later in the morning when the drama hit!
Curtis is "Too Cool for School" and I couldn't get a good pic of him with his Canada hat on!
This spring Curtis has been struggling with allergies down here. Actually, none of us have ever had them, and most of us have had them bad this year. Guess it's tops on the list of worst places for allergies in the USA! Curtis' eyes have been BEAT red and I thought he had pink eye a few weeks ago and took him in. They gave me the meds, but said it was just allergies.

His teacher told me that he looks SO uncomfortable and took him to the nurse last week. At the program, I saw him rubbing his eyes the WHOLE time and they were watering. He just looked MISERABLE! I told the teacher I was going to take him to the doctor to get him stronger allergy medicine and would bring him right back after the program. She thought that was a good idea.

We left the school, and headed to the doctor. I had all three kids with me. We got to the doctor and Bubba told me his tummy hurt. After I got him in the stroller and started heading in, he starting puking EVERYWHERE! I jumped back and screamed really loudly! Bubba has never thrown up for REAL. Only spit up before. I had NO extra clothes. He got me, the stroller, and he was full of it! I had extra coats in the car from the ballpark, and stripped him from the waist up, and put a coat on him. Then I wrapped his lower half in a clean coat and wheeled him in and told them we needed a bucket and a room. They brought me right back and the doctor said, "Bubba has never thrown up before?" (Yes, they all call him Bubba). Then he said, "Let's do a strep test just in case, b/c throwing up is usually the first sign of strep in a toddler." I let them do it, but said besides being crabby, Bubba has been ABSOLUTELY fine!

Twenty-five minutes later, after being hot boxed in a room with a kid that smelled like puke, they walked in and told us he tested positive! So, what I thought was a fast appointment, ended up taking a long time. I thought I was going to throw-up waiting for the results, and then after they gave him a shot, we had to wait ANOTHER 30 more minutes to make sure he didn't have a reaction! They had to open the door so I could breathe...or they would have had a REAL BIG mess on their hands! As I don't do well with puke!

It's ALWAYS something when you have kids! I was exhausted that night! Let's just say that when I left Curtis' school program thinking my kid was SO well behaved, I didn't know it was b/c he was SICK! The doctor, who has three boys as well, told me usually when the kids are well behaved is when his wife knows they are getting sick! LOL!
This past weekend we had some VERY special visitors. My mom's cousin's husband is running 50 marathons in 50 states. His #40 was about an hour from our house. They flew into town, and ran the race and then came up to have a BBQ with us. My mom's aunt and uncle came to watch and visit too! (MY GREAT Aunt and Uncle). We had a WONDERFUL visit and everyone looked the same to me as 8 years ago when I last tailgated with them at the ND games!
This picture was taken when it was suppose to be light outside, and is NOT a good pic of everyone. Big storms were rolling in, and they were trying to get out the door before it hit. This is ALL I got and I feel bad about it! Wish I would have taken more pics, but I'm hoping my mom's cousin has some to send me!
After they left the tornado shelter was organized AGAIN...
And three hail storms hit, and lots of violent wind! No tornado touchdowns though...THANK GOODNESS! Has been a REALLY stressful spring for me with NO basement! We lost power 3 times this week. Once for 9 hours! Lots of trees down around the area too.
Sunday we had family photos taken at a really cool park. A portion of our money was donated to the Ronald McDonald House, and this picture will accompany the donation! Pics will be up soon and I'll post them! I can't wait to see them!
Then it was off to Daddy's office to get tax documents since he's SO organized every year at this time! (Seriously, does this surprise anyone?) The boys were amazed at how HIGH up we were!
They think it's SO cool that they can see the football stadium...
And the 30 pieces of gum in their mouths is cool too, right?! LOL!
Next it was off to a kick butt party! My neighbor has a granddaughter that always plays with Bubba when she is visiting her granny. We were invited to her party, and didn't know many people there. There were 55 people when I counted. My neighbor is from South America and most people at the party were native Spanish speakers! The boys were loving the bounce house!
The pool was a HUGE hit!

Finally, the clown show was the kicker. He ONLY spoke in Spanish, and it was hilarious how my boys sat and LOVED it, but couldn't understand much. My neighbor grabbed a microphone and translated for the boys the best she could.
Curtis was WAY into the show....he may have earned the nickname, "Clown Creeper." He loved watching him make balloons, and was doing contests to earn balloons in front of everyone! Here he is in a contest, and Erik was roped into it. Whoever could blow the balloon up the fastest won.....I am so proud...ERIK CLEANED UP! Curtis was SO excited....yelling, cheering, and jumping up and down! It was like the Superbowl! Best part was we didn't know ANYONE!
Finally it was time for cake, and I'm not sure how it happened, but "my three sons" pretty much felt comfortable enough to join the family photo! LOL! This still makes me smile as we didn't know anyone but the little girl and her granny! We had a GREAT time and they really know how to throw a party! My lil' "musical chairs" and "pin the tail on the donkey" will be second fiddle next year!

Cousins Visit

Last week my sister Ann Marie and her family visited from WI. They made it down here in 15 hours flat! Not too shabby! My sister is a HUGE "Consumer's Report" reader and had to check out Costco when she got here. It had a high ranking...even higher than Sam's Club! She was NOT disappointed! She LOVED the frozen yogurt. She got chocolate, and I tried to get Bubba Vanilla with berries in it to sneak in a piece of fruit or two to his diet. No such luck....he spit it RIGHT out, and ate Ann Marie's right up! This kid is NO dummy!
We have had BEAUTIFUL weather since February down here. The week before Ann Marie got here it was mid 80's. The day before she got here it was 70 and sunny. They got here and the rain started and it rained 6 out of 7 days and was in the 40's and 50's! They left at 10:30am on Friday, and the clouds broke and the sun came out, and it's back into the 70's and 80's! Go figure!

We had to find things to keep the kids busy, so we all didn't kill each other. First day we went to the Children's Museum.
Here are the boys as we were headed in.
Bubba LOVED the water table, as usual!
The cousins had a really nice time together.
We saw animals in the rain forest,
And learned that Auntie Annie still has it on the pulley system after all these years!
Ann did some baking with 13.5 lbs of Baking Soda!
I LOVE my economist husband!

On Tuesday was the only nice day of the week. We went on a Safari north of the city. I'm pretty sure I haven't laughed that hard with my sister in YEARS! The animals were trying to get into the car, and even left 8 inch hoof marks on their driver door. We were laughing, gagging, crying, and scared all at the same time!
This guy was too close for "company" according to Johnny who HIGH TAILED it over the seats to the third row where the windows don't open.
Ann was gagging like crazy when this guy liked the car windows! See video below!
I LOVE this pic, as Cullen was driving Ann Marie nuts sitting in the middle console and his head kept turning on buttons, such as the heater or radio!

Made me SMILE! How can you be mad at a face like that?
Bubba with his "Spicy Italian" sub afterwards! SAFARI'S make us HUNGRY!
(What DOESN'T make this kid hungry?)
Another morning we went to this indoor play area!
The boys were having a BLAST!
I got to take my "Fairy Godchild" out for an afternoon of shopping, and painting for his birthday. We did a "paint your plate" type of place. He did a rabbit and a cross. I gave him chips and juice AND made sure I took him out to buy a toy his mom didn't want him to have! A Beaver web kindz, which his mother thinks is SO ugly! That's what aunties are for! Finally, since Ann Marie LOVES baseball so much, I talked her into going to Curtis' game in the rain, and told her it would be cancelled. NO such luck, as it rained, and was 40 degrees and had two rain delays!
Look at her....she loved EVERY minute of it! This girl just screams, "I LOVE BASEBALL!"
Finally, after the cousins left, we went to a young authors conference where Johnny presented a book. He did a GREAT job considering he had to make this when his writing arm was broken and did it with the opposite arm!

Baseball Pics

Baseball season has been in FULL swing down here since the end of February! The boys love it, and so does THE BUBBA! We've come up with a few new nicknames for him such as "The BOSS" and "The COMMISSIONER" as he can frequently be seen bossing around BIG kids at the park while organizing games of tag and hide-n-seek! I will NOT have to worry about anyone pushing Bubba around EVER!

Also, all the mom's have taken to feeding my lil' Bubba during the boys games. He sweetly sits on their lap while sucking on suckers, eating rice krispie treats, bags of goldfish, etc. I might have to make a shirt that says, "Do NOT feed the BUBBA!" Here is is enjoying some Gatorade on Daddy's lap yesterday while watching Johnny play!
Curtis loves hot dogs MORE than I do at the ball park. I didn't think that was possible, but I guess it is! Here he is enjoying his POST game snack. Not pictured is Bubba sitting at the table eating a free hot pretzel that he got from the concession stand. He has THEM wrapped around his finger too! He always yells, "HI MISS RACHEL!" when he gets to the ball park! This kid knows how to get food....and I'm not talking fruits or veggies!
Both boys with their game balls after the first game of the season!
VERY happy brothers that day!
Lefty in the dugout!
Curt-Dog LOVES sunflower seeds now!
Curtis a few weeks ago lining up to slap hands at the end of the game.
Lefty catching!
Lefty on third!

I'm a total sucker for my kids in uniforms...sorry if the bball pics get repetitive...but I LOVE taking them!

Frog and Toad

Curtis was in the choir in the play Frog and Toad at school last week.
Johnny and Bubba thought the play was hilarious!
There is Curtis the fourth from the left in the back row.

Bubba's First Trip to the Dentist

Two weeks ago was Bubba's first trip to the dentist. All the boys had their first cleaning down here. Let's just say they didn't make dentist offices like this when I was little. Here the three of them are in the waiting room. This picture just reminds me SO much of their father from when I first met him!
The room had three stations for each kid. They all had their teeth cleaned, and then the dentist walked in to check each of their mouths! Very convenient for me, as I just sat on the side and drank a Keurig cup of coffee!Bubba did absolutely amazing and even was able to get a fluoride treatment! All my kids do well at the dentist, but he takes the cake! Made me realize he's NOT a baby anymore!
He look WAY too old in this pic! TEAR!
Lefty waiting for his brothers to be done at the Play Station section of the dental room!
