Fun in the Sun!

This month, we'll have a few cold and rainy days, and then a few warm and sunny days. I'd compare winter here to fall/spring in the Midwest! Last weekend, when the temps were 70, we spent the whole weekend outside. First we had Curtis' Birthday party, and then we ended the party with friends having a cook-out! I have to say I REALLY love the weather in NC!
LOVE this pic!
Everyone was out playing football and I found Bubba up on the porch. Bubba has a radar....a chip radar! He just knew when our friends were putting out the goodies! I found him sitting by himself eating one of his FAVORITE things.
The kids all collecting wood to start the fire!
Getting it ready before dinner!
Ahhhh, nothing like a smore to end a GREAT weekend!

Rain Rain...

Go Away!
Been kind of a rainy week, but we still got out to play.
Under that umbrella is....
My lil' Nuky Sucking Cutie Pie!
He's no dummy...it's warmest by the dryer vent!

Curt-Dog was shocked when the umbrella that is 12 years old, finally took a turn for the worst! Tear!

Lefty

Lefty taking it to the hole in his last basketball game! Posted this for the grandparents because it won't let me upload it on my e-mail account....so y'all get a taste of my lil' hoopster! (Just ignore the crazy parent in the background! LOL!)

Do You Remember???

The first time you came across something in a book about the mating process, birthing process, or nursing?
Well, that happened to Curtis this week. He was doing a non-fiction book report and we were reading the book and came across this page on the orangutan nursing. Curtis put himself into a tizzy (Although nursing is something he has seen me do NUMEROUS times!). Even that night when he went to bed he could still not control his laughter whenever he thought of the book.
The next day, he filled out his book report and it asked him to draw a picture of something he learned in the book! This will make his baby book, as he tried to re-create the picture above! I didn't say anything...but Erik and I had a few chuckles about it later that night when Curtis was in bed, and thought I'd share it with you! I'm dying to see what his teacher does when she comes across this! (:

Happy 7th Birthday Curtis!

First off, I have to give a lil' shout out to the GB Packers! (Since I know so many of them read my blog! LOL!) GO PACK GO! This year we did a family "Play-Off Pool" b/c the boys are so into it. Johnny was the ONLY flawless one up until Sunday. Above is his bracket. Below is what I found AFTER he went to bed last night. He rooted for the Bears all night.....then I noticed he is STILL perfect~! LOL! Funny how that happens! This kid hates to lose....so in true Curtis form, he would do anything, but say he was wrong! (:

Of course, Johnny ALWAYS has to cheer against us! (: He actually really does love the Steelers....and the Packers is a top team! He got a lot of looks, and made fun of a lot in this shirt and pair of pants today! He loved EVERY minute of it!
Tuesday is Curtis' BIG 7th Birthday!
More pics to follow after his party this weekend.
We opened up family presents early and I think these videos and pictures in this post give you a good example of why I love my kids SO much!

Bubba...'enough said!

I LOVE this about Curtis! Life doesn't get much better than this....does it? I also pulled a Marge and wrapped it in a popcorn box....which he totally fell for!

Happy 7th Birthday to my first boy! We love you SO much!

Sickies...

Here are some more images from the BIG snow we had two weeks ago. You can see, once the ice hit, it was no fun playing in the snow anymore!
This was the 4th SNOW day we had in a row! Can you even believe this was a snow day? It looks like Spring in WI! Anyways, with all the snow, cold, and school closings for a WHOLE week here, , we were ready to get out of the house last weekend!
On Friday we had a scheduled date at the Children's Museum with some friends! We were SO glad they were open and to get out of the house!
Johnny LOVED building and racing cars with his buddy!

Bubba wanted in on the action and even went up on a ride all by himself for the first time! He looks SO old to me here! He was SO proud of himself!
Last Sunday, we went to the Nature Center that the Children's Museum owns. It was small and perfect for our kids...especially Bubba!

"Erik the Ant" made a special appearance.
As well as this "Stink Bug!"
Then we went on a walk around a GREAT park that reminded me of the Netherlands.

The kids had fun, but were VERY tired from staying up so late watching the Packer game then night before. Especially Curtis, he was EXTRA Crabby!
Hubba Bubba!
Lefty finding "treasures" as usual!
On Monday, MLK day Curtis woke up sick. (No wonder he was SO crabby on Sunday!) Bad cough and high fever. He didn't get out of bed all day. Bubba was playing cars, and he fell asleep on the playroom floor! I am ANAL about my kids napping and sleeping and this has NEVER happened to one of my kids. This should have been a sign of things to come for the week!
Tuesday brought a trip to the pediatrician office and Curtis had a bad case of pneumonia. He was given a shot in the office and sent home with two antibiotics. I took the boys out to get fresh air and opened the windows b/c I didn't want anyone else to get the cold. Tuesday night Bubba woke up with a barking cough and was awake most of that night. I thought he just had a cold because on Wednesday he was OK. Wednesday night he had a terrible night and had the highest fever, even on Tylenol and IBU. On Thursday he was lethargic....and I spent the morning in the doctors office again with another diagnosis of pneumonia! More meds and shots, and a LONG LONG full week at our house! (Remember this is after the WEEK of snow days as well! Curtis hasn't been to a full day of school since Jan. 7th!)

Here's hoping for a much calmer week this week, and a BIG Packer win against the Bears! Go Pack Go!

Snow Day 2011!

Big snow storm hit the south today! Curtis was SO excited to have off of school, and to be able to play with his snow gear Santa brought LAST year! It never really got warm enough in MN to play properly with his snowball maker on a fresh snowfall! So, the snowballs were a flying today!
We left all of our sleds and snow gear in MN! Scooter fun it will have to be! (:

(Side Note: We could not fit coats or snow pants into our bags after all the goodies the kids got at x-mas. I figured this snow would only happen a few times ever.....of course one week after we got back it hit! Figures! )
Bubba was WAY into making "snowballs" and throwing them at his brothers! Here he is going after Curtis! Snowball making skills are quite up to par yet! He'll learn soon enough!
The neighborhood "Snow Bowl" Gang! Snow, Football, and FUN!

Notice Bubba trying to "Snowboard" in the background!
Monkey See, Monkey Do!
Bubba's first attempt at sledding as far as he can remember!
HE LOVED IT!
The neighbors introduced Lefty to face washes!
Only problem is that he LOVED getting them!
